Kings Cross

I've seen this cover out in the wild now, so I guess it's okay to post here: this is a variant for a new mini-series with the King Features Syndicate heroes, following on from Kings Watch and Kings Quest (and my own Mandrake the Magician series from last year), called Kings Cross. (More info here.)

(Not sure what happened to the apostrophes, but that's the official title, so please direct your grammatical ire at Dynamite Entertainment rather than me; thanks.)

Anyway, I'm not sure when this is coming out (edit: seems to be out in November), as I've got nothing to do with the series proper, but it was a fun cover to do – and it was nice to revisit Mandrake as well. Hope things pick up for the old boy.

The Mandrake Screamed

The latest issue of the Mandrake the Magician series Jeremy Treece and I have been doing, #2, is out tomorrow by the look of it. I saw the art for the first time a couple of days ago when my copies arrived in the mail and it's really stunning. My (top) hat is off to Jeremy on this one. Check it out at your local comic book shop, or online from ComiXology and whoever else does this sort of thing these days (I'm an old man, I remember when all the comics were made of wood).

Mandrake!

So it was announced today that I'll be writing a four-issue Mandrake the Magician series for Dynamite, drawn by Jeremy Treece. It spins off from the Kings Watch series by Jeff Parker and Marc Laming earlier this year, building on the events detailed therein – though I'll ensure it's a good jumping-on point as well, if you missed that earlier story and just want to start here. I've read Mandrake since I was a tot, when it was serialised in The Australian Women's Weekly (no, really!), so he's an old friend.

Here's the cover to the first issue, by the phenomenal Mr Darwyn Cooke.
