Conventions!
This weekend, I'll be attending my first convention of the year: the London Super Comic Con, at the Excel Centre. That one is a first for me, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like – do stop by for a chat if you're there; I'll be at Table A88, apart from when I'm doing the Doctor Who in Comics panel (Saturday 2pm-2:45pm) and a couple of signings at the Boom! Studios stand (Saturday 10:30am-11:30am and Sunday 10:30am-11:30am). Those interruptions aside, I'll be there all day for both days, sketching and selling books and artwork. (I will charge for full-figure drawings, but quick head sketches are always FREE FREE FREE!)
Then, next month, I'll be attending the Comiciade Festival in Aachen, Germany. This one's a new one for me too, but the shows I've attended in Germany in the past have always been great.
Then in June I'll be attending Heroes Con in Charlotte, North Carolina! I love Heroes Con, and I was sorry to miss it last year. As always, I've done a piece for their fundraising auction – rather pleased with this one.
And then, in September, the mighty SPX – more about which closer to the time. Suffice to say it never disappoints.
Hope to see some of you at one or more of these swanky shindigs!

More Bullwinkleness
Here's a cover rough for #3 which wasn't used. Incidentally, there's an interview with me and Mark Evanier about this series at Comic Book Resources...

Rocky and Bullwinkle: Unused Cover Concept
This rough was submitted for consideration for #2 of Rocky and Bullwinkle, but one of the other ones got the eventual nod.

More Moose, More Squirrel
This is from the same, pre-model sheet batch of roughs as the previous post. The nearest thing to a guideline I had was "just show the Moose and the Squirrel looking cool." Well, okay.

Moose and Squirrel
So I'm doing these Rocky and Bullwinkle comics for IDW with Mark Evanier, whose scripts have been a delight thus far, and as a part of that I've been pitching ideas for covers. So I thought I'd run a few of the rejects here. Here's the first...
This one was before I'd been sent any model sheets or anything, so of course all the characters are a bit off... although if you look at Rocky and Bullwinkle's sundry comic iterations over the years, there's really a lot of variation in the different artists' interpretations (which is all to the good, in my opinion; a little bit of a cartoonist's personality injected into a licensed property never made anything look worse).

More Moose
Following up yesterday's post about Rocky and Bullwinkle, IDW will also be releasing a "Classic Rocky and Bullwinkle" collection featuring work by the mighty Al Kilgore. I was asked to do a new cover for it - and here it is.

Rocky and Bullwinkle!
I'm a keen follower of Mark Evanier's website (as all right-thinking people should be), so it was a great pleasure to see yesterday that he's announced the upcoming Rocky and Bullwinkle four-issue series that's coming out in March 2014 from IDW, which Mr. Evanier will be writing and I will be drawing.
I guess that means it's okay for me to talk about it as well; I've been sitting on this one since March this year, so when I say I'm relieved to finally be able to spill the beans, I'm not kidding. It'll be a whole year between my being approached to work on it and the first issue hitting the stands!
So far Mark's scripts have been everything you'd want them to be: very smart and very silly at the same time, nailing the tone perfectly. I only hope my drawings are living up to the material. Mark's post about it can be read here.
Aaand here's the cover to the first one. Out in March, if I haven't mentioned that already.
