Are you still here?

I'm really lousy at this blog business. It takes time I don't really have, I think that's the crux of the problem. Quickly, then:

I'll be at the Bristol Comics Expo this weekend, the convention one American visitor described as "a flea market in a church". Nevertheless, I'll be there, hopefully with a preview of the upcoming new Knuckles the Malevolent Nun book (assuming the artwork arrives from New Zealand in time).

Curtrently working on: The Muppets! Disney Adventures Magazine are about to start a regular Muppets comic strip, written and drawn by Yours Truly. I have to admit this is a bit of a thrill - I realised only a few years ago how much of an influence the original, 1970s Muppet Show was on my comics work. So to be actually doing it is quite a weird feeling.

Here's a recent illustration I did for a science fiction magazine about a bunch of upcoming TV shows I'd never heard of.

  1. Don't worry about long silences on the blog - RSS feeds take care of everything.

Congrats on the Muppets gig! I've wondered about what's going on with Disney Adventures for awhile, and this is a good excuse to pick one up.

  2. Hey, that's great! Any idea when they'll begin to appear in the magazine?

Man, it's been over 20 years since there's been a Muppet comic strip.

  4. More Muppet awareness?! The idea that they're an oppressed minority tickles my sense of humour. Free the chickens!

The first strip will run in the August 2007 issue, and if I've got this right, it'll be the Pigs In Space two-pager I'm working on right now. The idea is to run one or two page strips in the regular magazine, and bigger chunks of ten to twelve pages in their Comic Zone specials.

  5. Is there an official title, or is it just going to be called "The Muppets" like the Gilchrist strip?

  6. It will depend on the strip. If it's a Pigs In Space strip, it'll be called Pigs In Space, for example. You have a bit more flexibility with these things in a comic than you do in a newspaper strip.
