For what it's worth, I've enjoyed these immensely. Checking Hotel Fred daily has become part of my routine this year and I'm really glad it's been as good an experience for you.
ReplyDeleteAww.. I will miss these, but I'm looking forward to more long-form work from you.
ReplyDeletethank you Mr Langridge for all the great strips!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is thanks. What you did is not easy, and offers very little in the way of instant gratification. Hopefully the delayed gratification makes it worth it. I appreciate your sharing your work. Whep?
ReplyDeleteSad to see the end of the daily strips, but thank you so much for the past five months of free fun.

ReplyDeleteI'll miss my daily Langridge, but I'm glad you have so much work!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! For "so much work", read "some work". It's still an improvement. I'm spending quite a lot of time just preparing submissions. The swings and roundabouts of the freelancer's life!
Deleteyou said at the beginning it was just to learn some software slash digital methodology so any further satisfaction you and us got is a bonus. You could remove a lot of the heavy lifting by just doing bits from old classics illustrated with Langridge characters. Huge congrats on the Iron Duchess, the final statue gag was a fitting finale. It's a fine example of what they used to call a romp, and wondrously wordless too. (Although I could hear a piano playing furiously during the train chase). A terrible problem to have: your hard work makes it all look easy.
ReplyDeleteVery kind! And yeah, I'll keep posting stuff here, just not a daily strip, because that's just a tad too labour-intensive right now. I'll likely still do strips from time to time, but they'll be broken up with sketches and other, less difficult things.
DeleteAnyway, thank you very much. Shopping Iron Duchess around at the moment looking for a publisher; wish me luck.
